Online Publisher:          Contents provided by:	SEDC's DESARIA '99 FOOD & FUN FAIR         A lady entrepreneur getting ready for her customers There were plenty of fun and food for everyone at the Kuching Waterfront on Sunday and Sunday, 13 & 14 November 199. It was SEDC's Desaria '99 Fair which saw about 24 of their 'adopted' entrepreneurs under the "Program Pembangunan Rakyat Khas," PPRK, displaying their wares for sale. Among the items available on the day are sea food products, fruit and vegetables, mouth-watering local cakes, sweets, drinks and a variety of other delicacies. One lady entrepreneur who was attending to her cake and food stall said that she was grateful to SEDC who have been really supportive of her and other members in the Programme by giving them a chance to get involved in business to enable them to earn a living. Prior to the programme, they were merely housewives doing the routine job of raising kids and looking after the house. But now, besides being housewives, they can also acquire entrepreneurial skill and help to bring in some money to the household. Encik Bujang bin Ibrahim and his wife Siti from Saratok happen to be in town and was seen quite eager to grab some bargains. Encik Bujang said that this is one way in which he could buy fresh products at a low price and at the same  help the entrepreneurs to earn some money for them and their families. Skateboarding...one of the attraction for the young at DESARIA' 99 He told RAKAN Sarawak that two of his kids have signed up in the Roller Blades and Skateboarding competition adjacent to the food stalls. The activities were organised by SMK Batu Lintang's Young Entrepreneurs' Programme for the more mobile and the young who thronged the Desaria '99 Fair.
