Being
able to use the right words for the right occasion, writing or saying them correctly
in the proper context...it's a skill that anyone
aspiring to be a "better communicator" must learn to acquire and constantly,
improve on. As the line in that popular song, "Words", by the
Bee Gees says: "It's only words, and words are all I have to take your
heart away....", the right words are the key to bridging that
communication gap and bringing people closer and working well with each other.
So, from our wordsmith's toolbox, here are some tips on
how we can make "words work for us".....

Reap better
result from your creative thinking by basing it on this outline:
Ask.
Follow the "Three-I" approach. Seek insight by being
inquitive and posing impulse questions.
Record.
Use notebook, a scrap of paper, or send yourself a voice mail or
an e-mail, but list every idea. Having many choices increases the odds
of finding something useful.
Revisit.
Check your notes from past projects to make sure you're not repeating
errors that blocked earlier efforts.
Express.
Seek second opinions by sharing your ideas with others.
Experiment.
Try to something new. Example: Instead of idea pluses and
minuses, get a different view by drawing and analyzing pictures or diagrams
that represent a problem.
Speculate.
Think wishfully, and pretend you're hoping to invent something.
Persist.
Resist the urge to give up yoo soon on a line of thought that seems
futile. Many breakethroughs come only after you've generated scores
of ideas.
