Dr. Mahathir meets the people
of Sarawak
On the last legs of his nationwide tour of the country, the Prime Minister,
YAB Dato' Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad arrived in Kuching, Sarawak on 27 August
1998. His trip this time was arranged to coincide with the triennial conference
of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu, PBB, the largest of the state Barisan
Nasional component parties, which look place the 27 - 30 August 1998.

dan Kuala Lumpur '98 semuanya ada pertautan yan sama - semuanya merupakan
acara sukan. Sesungguhpun sukan merupakan suatu acara yang menguji kekuatan,
kemahiran serta kecekapan seseorang atau sekumpulan orang yang mengambil
bahagian, sukan juga dapat memupuk semangat setiakawan.

Woman - Who art thou? I am her. I am many things. Women of today have
many roles in life. She is a mother, teacher, partner, leader, advocator,
volunteer, wife and friend. Her contributions encompass area in medicine,
healthcare, politics, academic, businesses, human rights, social welfare
and the list goes on.

COSTAL ZONE MANAGEMENT
Economy and Environment in Balance
It is inevitable as the country hurtles toward the next century that economic
progress shall begin to impinge onto nature, especially the coastal areas
which are usually the most populated and rich in natural resources.Therefore,
there is a significant need to integrate the management of our alluvial
coastal plain which makes up almost one-fifth of Sarawak with the aim to
maximise resource potentials without depleting the habitats of the natural
environment.
Budaya Dalam Realiti Baru
Kepelbagaian kaum di negeri ini menjurus kepada kepelbagaian budaya. Sungguh
pun begitu ini tidak menjadi tembok menghalang bagi membentuk perpaduan
rakyat bumi kenyalang ini. Sejak 35 tahun merdeka, masyarakat di negeri
ini telah dapat hidup harmorni dan bersulamkan kepelbagaian budaya yang
wujud itu.
BERSEDIA UNTUK LAWATAN LA
NINA
Yang patah akan tumbuh, yang pergi akan berganti. Walaupun kenyataan ini
semacam suatu usul pemujukan kepada hati yang gundah gulana saja, namun
perginya El Nino akan datangnya La Nina, situasinya seperti jatuh ditimpa
tangga.
World Music Touching the Hearts
The first Rainforest World Music Festival is organised by Sarawak Tourism
Board (STB) from 29-30 August 1998 at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Damai,
Kuching, Sarawak. Traditional, ethnic and folklore music a featured during
the two-day event from different parts of world, like UK, Australia, Philippines,
Canada, in condition to those from Peninsula Malaysia and our own local
bands. The patron for the Rainforest Word Music Festival '98 is the Hon.
Dr James J Masing, Minister of Tourism, Sarawak.

will be conducted for 1 month beginning 15 September 1998.

Makan untuk hidup atau hidup untuk makan? Persoalan yang boleh dianggap
remeh dan mempersendakan. Namun jika diteliti dengan akal waras yang kita
miliki, kita akui bahawa setiap daripada kita perlu makan atau perlu kepada
makanan untuk hidup. Majoriti daripada kita beranggapan bahawa makanan merupakan
keperluan asas kita.

IN KUCHING
APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade met in Kuching on 22 - 23 June 1998
to review progress on the implementation of instructions given by Leaders
in Vancouver and the ongoing AOEC work programme on trade and investment
liberalisation and facilitation.
