Sibu Water board Reaches New Heights

"We strive to be the best in the reigion" says Ir Daniel Wong Park Ing, General Manager of Sibu Water Board.
The Sibu Water Board continues to put great importance on the quality of water and adopts high standard of treatment process to ensure its 36,000 accounts, comprised of households and commercial establishments, of safe drinking water and sufficient water supply year round in the whole Sibu division.

The Board continues to channel substantial fund into expanding and maintaining the existing water supply network in order to enhance network reliability and meet customers' demand.

The Board maintains three plants-Bukit Lima, Salim and Sibintek- with a total production capacity of 130.65 MLD which is more than enough to provide the average daily consumption of 46 MILD in the division. The Board also continues to find ways in satisfying their customers by improving the quality of water and minimizing the interruption of water supply. Efforts are also being made to ensure that all the three plants are well attended and functioning in accordance with safety rules and procedures such as putting the right amount of chlorine. A hotline has been set Lip so that customers have an alternative channel for their inquiries or complaints.

In addition, the Board implements sustained education programme and awareness publicity. This includes inviting the public, especially students, to visit the treatment plant. Leaflets are also regularly distributed to the public as a measure to conserve water.

"We also have our 'Renewal Programme', a project which aims to replace all the old pipes by the year 2005" said Jr. Alice Jawan, Head of Capital Works Planning and is also the Quality Management Representative.
