HUMOUR IS A PART OF LIFE"
"EPILAUGHS"
These three epitaphs are taken from actual gravestones found in England
'Here lie I,
Bereft of breath,
Because a cough
Carried me off;
Then a coffin
They carried me off in."
'Here snug in grave my wife doth lie;
Now she's at rest and so am I!'
'Here lie the bones of Richard Lawton,
Whose death, alas! Was strangely brought on.
Trying one day his corns to mow off,
The razor slipped and cut his toe off;
His toe, or rather what it grew to,
An inflammation quickly flew to,
Which took alas to mortifying,
And was the cause of Richard's dying.'
