ACTionetwork promotes

ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION

ACTionetwork Team Abadi organised an environmental awareness field trip to Matang Wildlife Centre recently as part of the team's commitment to its on-going Adopt-A- Street Campaign towards a clean, green and safe environment in Kota Sentosa area. The cooperation of Actionetwork members from various government departments and agencies together with civic-minded members of the community, made the trip possible for about 100 primary and secondary students from SMK Sungai Tapang and SRB Sam Hap Hin.

Students and teachers from SRB Sam Hap Hin and SMK Sungai Tapang with ACTionet Team Abadi towards a "clean, green, safe environment" in Kota Sentosa Andrew Wang of JKR gives a short message on Team Abadi's Adopt a Street campaign.
The day's programme consisted of environmental and health talks as well as a guided nature walk within Matang Wildlife Centre. Mr. Raymond Achen from Padawan Municipal Council encouraged the students to do their part in the environmental cleanliness campaign in Kota Sentosa and emphasised that the indiscriminate disposal of refuse in open and isolated places should be stopped. Mr. Razak Pawi, Conser-vation Officer from Forestry Department delivered a talk on the preservation of wildlife in Sarawak and presented measures on how to protect our natural resources. Towards the end of the trip, the students also had the chance to explore the natural surroundings at the Matang Wildlife Centre and a closer look at some of Sarawak's endangered species such as hornbill, orang utan, sambar deer and crocodiles.

Andrew Wang from JKR headed this project for the team. Other team members are Then Hon Nyian (Chairman), Liew Nam Onn, Chan Shun Sing, Yusfida Khalid , Lawrence Sigai, Khairuddin Abdullah and Susan Loh.

Actionetwork Team Abadi hopes that this trip will encourage love for nature and a genuine concern for the preservation of our environment among the students who participated.
