Mukah-Selangau Road

With the connecting road completed in July 1999, the residents of Rh. Ledom can now drive their vehicles right up to their doorstep.
This project was started in two phases. One phase commenced in March 1998 and was completed in December of the same year. The other began construction in June 1999 and is scheduled for completion by year 2000. Once ready, this road will 1 connect the main road front Sibu and Bintulu to Mukah. This RM1 2 million project will cut the journey to Sibu from the present four hours to less than three hours.

Nibong Tada Road Road (Phase II)

Phase 11 of the Nibong-Tada Road Project is a continuation of [lie Phase I's which started about five years ago. This RM31.5

million project under the 7MP is clue to he ready by September 2000. Once completed, this 27.5 km road will connect three feeder roads to SMK Sedaya, Rumah Nyeleng and Batang Rajang and open up the hinterlands by linking at least 40 different longhouses within the vicinity.

Durin Bridge Putting — an end to ferry point congestion

1 lie long awaited Durin Bridge in Sibu is a great relief to a lot of people The usual sight of long queue of vehicles waiting for the ferries to bring them across to the other side of Sibu will be a thing of [he past. Hopefully, it will be completed on target by the year 2002.

The 4.5km feeder road to Rh. Nyeleng, once completed will naturally spur development as the longhouses folks become accessible. Located over 40 km from Sibu toen, SRK Nanga Pak and the neighboring longhouses can now enjoy accessibility to the main road. Th eproject was completed in July 1999.

Village roads under MRP Programme

Under the Minor Rural Project (MIRP) Programme in 1999, the Sibu District Office has implemented a number of village road projects to help bring development to the areas involved. Projects implemented under the MRP are usually for small infrastructure development costing g RM50, 000.00 or less and invariably meant for rural communities.
