According to Concise Oxford Dictionary, KNOWLEDGE is defined as awareness / familiarity gained by experience or a theoretical/practical understanding of a subject.

Our community is becoming aware of the importance of knowledge for all levels of the population, hence the emergence of K-Economy, K-Worker and K-Community is prevalentnowadays.

The acquisition of knowledge should not rest through reading of books or through formal education alone. Neither is it limited to a school environment. Acquisition of knowledge is not limited to a time period in one’s life. We learn something every single day, as the saying goes, Anyone who stops learning is old whether this happens at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps on learning not only remains young but becomes constantly more valuable, regardless of physical capacity.’

There are many modes of gaining knowledge – through hands on practice, attending talks and workshops and observing others at work. Hence the reason for the two talks organized by Pustaka : Talk on Health & Finance for Young Adults (6 July 2003) and Talk on Image & Personality (13 July 2003).

These talks encircle topics that are vital to the youth – for present and future self growth and development. Therefore, the Knowledge Ribbon Campaign is a catalyst towards this awareness as Pustaka’s mission is to provide state of the art facilities for easy and real time access to information and knowledge. This Campaign is a first for Pustaka and targeted at our youth.

Objective of the Campaign

To encourage and make aware the need and importance of acquiring knowledge among the youth in order to create a well-informed and knowledge community as well as complementing their life long learning programs.

Significance of the K Ribbon

For this Campaign, Pustaka will distribute a purple colored ribbon in the shape of the letter ‘K’, that stands for Knowledge. The purple color is chosen as it is generally accepted as the color of knowledge and wisdom and valour.
