A picture speaks a thousand words. Take a stroll through the Pictorial Gallery of Kuching City South Council (MBKS) and the photos on display will begin to “talk” to you. Their topics will include the colorful history of Sarawak from pre- to post-independence, development of Kuching from a municipality to a garden city, and establishment of Kuching Municipal Council (KMC) in 1946 to the present MBKS.

Sarawak Islamic Centre (Pusat Islam Sarawak) A Resource Centre for the Propagation of the Islamic Faith

Pusat Islam Sarawak or the Sarawak Islamic Centre is to be set up along Jalan Ong Tiang Swee in Kuching. Construction of the Centre is expected to begin by year-end with a budget allocation of RM2 million. On Friday, 1st August 2003, The Chief Minister, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. Haji Abdul Taib
Mahmud performed the earth-breaking ceremony and launched the Logo for the Centre.

Aktiviti sosial seperti bersukan telah terbukti mampu mewujudkan suasana muhibbah dalam sesuatu masyarakat. Justeru, Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, seperti juga agensi kerajaan yang lain, tidak ketinggalan meneladani inisiatif tersebut apabila menjadi tuan rumah bagi Sukan Perpustakaan Awam SeMalaysia Ke – 15 yang diadakan baru-baru ini.

Warga Malaysia, daripada semua lapisan umur, harus diterapkan dengan disiplin diri yang tinggi dan nilai-nilai murni untuk menghindari amalan rasuah, kata Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Masih ramai ketua jabatan yang belum melantik Pegawai Perhubungan Pengaduan Awam (PPPA) di kementerian, jabatan atau agensi masing-masing, kata Ketua Pengarah Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam, Tan Sri Jamaluddin Ahmad Damanhuri. Beliau berkata, ia bertentangan
dengan arahan yang dikeluarkan Ketua Setiausaha Negara (KSN) menerusi Pekeliling Kemajuan Pentadbiran Awam (PKPA) Bil 4 tahun 1992.

Semua jabatan dan agensi kerajaan yang berurusan dengan orang ramai, diminta melantik Pegawai Perhubungan Pengaduan Awam (PPPA) dengan segera bagi memastikan semua aduan awam dapat dikendalikan secara sistematik dan berkesan.

Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam Malaysia (SPA) telah memperkenalkan sistem komputer dalam pengendalian temuduga bagi mengisi kekosongan jawatan kerajaan yang diyakini dapat memudah dan mempercepatkan proses berkenaan.

When you talk about a library, most people would think of the public libraries frequented by students, researchers and the general public. The concept of
home library would be foreign to some people. But if you think about it, a home library is not such a difficult idea to make into reality. The basic step to a home library is to start small with the available books and reading materials you have in the house.

It is not an easy task to keep our home clean and pleasant to live in. It is even more difficult to keep a town clean and beautiful for its residents. But Lawas Town has been successful in achieving this feat because of several factors - cooperation from its people, development projects by the state government and activities organised by the town.

“Consider pursuing courses in medicine and engineering,” urged YB Encik Henry Sum Agong, Member of Parliament for Bukit Mas, at the closing ceremony of the recent state-level Science Week and Convention in Limbang. As many as 510 students including accompanying teachers heard his call for building a core of innovators and inventors in the field of science in Sarawak. Participants of the convention included Form 2 and Form 4 students and involved 7 schools in the Limbang Division.
