TYT Birthday Celebration on 15 September 2001

Arrival of TYT at the Dewan Suarah Sibu for the Investiture Ceremony held in conjunction with his 80th birthday celebration. Welcoming the TYT is the State Secretary, Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Husain, whi is the sole recipient of the award Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak.
Despite the rain and soaked uniforms, the contingents participating in the celebration of the 80th Birthday of the TYT Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin at Stadium Tun Zaidi, Sibu, enthusiastically continued with their parade and performances for the Head of State. The activities and programme for the auspicious occasion included a 17-gun salute, guard-of-honour inspection by the TYT accompanied by the Chief Minister of Sarawak, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.) Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud.

The thousands strong crowd who turned up for the event was treated to an exciting display from the release of hundreds of colorful balloons and 80 pigeons. There was also a march past by 90 participating contingents, dance performances from hundreds of brightly clad students, and a brass band performance by the Armed Forces Brass Band. The Head of State was finally presented with a birthday scroll from four local Temenggongs.

In his written message for the occasion, YB Datuk Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Husain, State Secretary of Sarawak, described the TYT as the person who activated the spirit of unity, understanding and harmony amongst the people. The State Secretary also expressed his heartfelt gratitude that the able leadership of the TYT has provided the State Civil Service with a conducive environment in which to carry out their duties and responsibilities for the benefit of the State and public as a whole.
