STATE SECRETARY CONFERRED ‘DATUK AMAR’

Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz Haji Husain, Sarawak's State Secretary, the sole recipient of the award Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang (DA)

In conjunction with the 80th birthday of the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin, a total of over 600 recipients were conferred various awards and medals. The ceremony took place at Dewan Suarah Sibu on Saturday, 15 September 2001.

Leading the list of recipients is Sarawak’s State Secretary, YB Datuk Haji Abdul Aziz Haji Husain. Datuk Abdul Aziz is the sole recipient of the award Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak which carries the title “Datuk Amar.”

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Mohd. Jamil bin Johari is also the sole recipient of the award “Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak” (PNBS) (First Class) which carries the title “Datuk.”

Seven others receive the “Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang” (PGBK) (Second Class) which also carries the title “Datuk.” They are Commander of First Division, Datuk Pahlawan Mohd Azumi Mohamed and Assistant Minister of Finance and Public Utilities, Encik Michael Manyin anak Jawong.

Other recipients of the PGBK are Shell Companies Chairman for East Asia, Datuk Tan Ek Kia, art activist Puan Salbiah Painah, Temenggong Tan Meng Chong, the Reverend Made Katib and businessman Lee Chin Min @ Lee Chi Min.

Three senior civil servants who were conferred the “Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak” (DJBK) which carries the title “Datu.” are State Financial Secretary Encik Chin Jew Bui @ Chen You Wee; Sarawak Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Yusoff Nook; and Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Communications, Tuan Haji Salleh Sulaiman.

Two Japanese nationals who received the “Johan Bintang Sarawak” (JBS) (Honorary) are Mr. Toshihiro Matsuki and Mr. Katsumasa Omae. Another Japanese who received the “Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang” (PGBK) is Mr. Terumasa Yoneda.

A total of 84 others received the “Pegawai Bintang Sarawak,” (PBS); 213 “Bentara Bintang Sarawak,” (BBS); 21 “Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang” (PBK); and 43 “Ahli Bintang Kenyalang” (ABK).

Four recipients of the “Johan Bintang Kenyalang” (JBK) are Deputy Secretary General of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, Encik Peter Minos; Penghulu Abang Rosli Abang Ahmad; State Development Director Tuan Haji Abdullah Ahmad; and Encik Chen Shick Pei @ Chan Siak Phui of the Mineral & Geoscience Department.

Seven others are conferred the “Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang” (PPC); 84 “Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti” (PPB); and 129 “Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji” (PPT).

The “Pingat Jasa Keberanian” (PJK) is awarded to Encik Lim Kwong Tah and Encik Wong Ching Yew both of Kuala Baram.
