In this issue of RS, Mdm. Diana Lim of Arang Road Kuching would like to share her ideas with all RS readers.

I believe that making Kuching City a garden city is a two-way commitment by both the government and the people. As the authorities continue to beautify the major parts of the city, owners of the residential houses should do their part by beautifying their surroundings, planting flowering plants in front of their houses and maintaining the overall cleanliness of their surroundings.

I am proud to say that I did not employ anyone to do the landscaping in my house. I got some ideas from magazines and a genuine interest on gardening helped a lot. Now the plants around my house are a beautiful sight and something that I can be proud of. It is not difficult to do. It took me only about a month to put up my garden. I bought some, friends give some. You have to spend a few hours a day though on the initial stage.

At the moment I am thinking of planting some fruit-bearing trees at the back of my house. I hope RAKAN Sarawak can include articles on the subject of planting fruit trees, where to get seedlings and related information. Is the Agriculture Department providing some assistance on this? Where can the public get relevant information? Who can be contacted or is there any website that I can visit?
