YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud received a book from Universiti Teknologi MARA Vice Chancellor, YB Dato’ Ibrahim Abu Shah

Considering Malaysia’s top CEO is retiring in October this year, it is perhaps apt that a one-day seminar, is attributed to his thought processes and how these have shaped the Malaysia and Malaysians of today.

A keynote address was given by the Chief Minister, YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud in which praises were heaped on the brilliant achievements of the premier.

Datuk Patinggi Taib said that Dr. Mahathir’s astute ability to steer the country and her people out of many crises has catapulted him to the top as a very capable leader in the eyes of her people and that of the international community.

“The basis of the premier’s struggle is to build a nation amidst a changing world scenario and to bring the nation to a level where Malaysians are able to see eye-to-eye with the rest of the world.”

Datuk Patinggi Taib went on to say that “…Dr. Mahathir is a very organised person and a diligent one at discharging his duties and responsibilities….and was able to modernise the agriculture and food industries of the nation when he was appointed the Agriculture Minister. He re-orientated the minds of the people so that they can learn to be self-reliant, confident and systematic in dealing with the forces of change.”

Three learned speakers were invited to present their papers. Dato’ Dusuki Haji Ahmad, the political secretary to the Prime Minister spoke on the Political Thinking of Dr. Mahathir; Dato’ Rahmah Haji Kassim, Special Advisor to the National Economic Action Council spoke on the Economic Thinking of the Premier; and Encik Astora Jabat from the Al-Islam Bulletin, Utusan Group, delivered a paper on Dr. Mahathir’s Thoughts on Islam.
