Swinburne Sarawak Institute of Technology & Sarawak Skills Development Centre Equip Sarawakians With Relevant Skills
“Our Skills Must be Tailored to the Market Needs”

Datuk Aziz receives the certificate for Sarawak Skills Development Centre from Mr. Ian Reed, General Manager of Edexcel International
The Sarawak state government sustains its efforts towards the development of our human resource capacity and continues to provide avenues for learning and developing relevant skills among our youth.

“The future of our young children must be tailored according to the market needs so that there won’t be any mismatch between their skills and the available opportunities in the market” said the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud . He was speaking at a certificate presentation ceremony recently, during which the UK-based Edexcel International made the Sarawak Skills Development Centre (SSDC) its first approved training centre in East Malaysia.

“Educational institutions must develop synergy for a more progressive approach in education” says the Chief Minister
The Chief Minister is optimistic that the appointment of SSDC as Edexcel’s approved centre will boost the government’s effort towards the development of its human resource.

On a similar note, State Secretary Datuk Haji Abdul Aziz Haji Husain commented that the recently launched Swinburne Sarawak Institute of Technology will be a new force in higher education in Sarawak. “The focus of Swinburne Sarawak is on developing skills and knowledge in our students, ensuring industry relevance in our programmes, producing employability and a global perspective in our graduates and managing our activities with a sound quality assurance appproach” Datuk Aziz said.
