Education is the key to success.This holds true in this challenging world which involves the development of character and mental prowess to attain a higher than average level of intelligence.

Being a graduate does not necessarily mean wearing the garment and mortar board and asking oneself, after this what’s next? Education is perpetual and an ongoing process throughout our lives. It is more complex than getting a string of degrees after one’s name.

We become educated through learning in classrooms, by imitating others, travelling to widen our horizons and observing from our peers and not repeating mistakes done. Even raising a family is an education in itself. It transcends all walks of life and has no barriers.

Besides the school and higher places of learning, education should then begin at home. It is from home that a child gains knowledge and an insight into this world. Parents play a crucial role in moulding the young ones into responsible and civic-minded citizens of the future.

Added to that, the teachers’ role at school should not be relegated. The teacher prepares the child for the future, for without them, a child would not be able to read, write and calculate - the three most important prerequisites to being educated.

Thus, a symbiotic relationship is forged between teacher, parent and child.
