The development of football in Sarawak can be further enhanced with the successful implementation of the team adoption programme of the Kuching Division Football Association (KDFA). KDFA appeals to corporate organisations and other government agencies to adopt football teams for the local league which is being organised in Sarawak.

“There are many talented footballers in Sarawak who have great potentials but do not have the chance to compete in the league because they either have no team or their team has limited resources” said Tuan Haji Rakawi Ibrahim, KDFA President and General Manager of Stadium Negeri Sarawak. “We need the support of the private sector through this adoption programme to ensure the success of our local league” , he stressed.

With the support of the private sector and civic-minded citizens, this team adoption programme aims to provide an avenue for school teams to compete in the local league without or with less cost for their sports gears and incidental expenses before and during the competition.

KDFA has organised local competitions such as the Petronas Kuching League and the DBKU Mayor’s Cup, and is currently preparing for the proposed Champions League Cup scheduled next year.
