Visit By The State Secretary of Sabah

February was a month for the meeting of the State Secretaries of the Eastern Corridor states of Sabah and Sarawak.The delegation from Sabah,headed by YB Datuk K.Y.Mustafa,State Secretary of Sabah, paid an official visit to Kuching,Sarawak,from 24 to 26 February 2005,in which the Sarawak State Government played the host.The distinguished delegation was received and welcomed by YB Datuk Amar Haji Abdul Aziz Haji Husain,State Secretary of Sarawak. Activities organized for the Sabah delegation’s visit included briefings from the Ministry of Social Development &Urbanization,Kuching Waterfront Management and Sarawak Rivers Board,a river cruise,friendly badminton match,and a welcome dinner to enhance and solidify ties between the two states.Integrated visits such as the above go a long way to facilitate and build rapport amongst the state governments of the nation.

The State Secretary of Sabah,YB Datuk K.Y.Mustafa,and his delegation attended a briefing by the Ministry of Social Development &Urbanization on 24 February 2005 at 3 rd Floor,Bangunan Masja.The briefing highlighted sports development in Sarawak as this is an avenue for promoting cooperation and a healthy lifestyle amongst the people,especially the youths.Sports also provide a channel that could create opportunities success and achievements for those who are keen to be great sportsman or sportswoman. On 26 February 2005,the Sabah delegation was briefed by Senior Officers of the Kuching Waterfront Management and Sarawak Rivers Board at the Kuching Waterfront Management Office located at Main Bazaar.Good water management in terms of minimizing pollution,soil erosion and maximizing environment conservation as well as efforts by the Sarawak State Government in preserving the heritage of Sarawak ’s rivers was presented during the briefing session.The occasion also provided opportunities for information exchange between the parties concerned.
The Sabah delegation was able to view the changing landscapes of the Kuching Waterfront from the historical photos on display.From a small riverine town,Kuching has developed into a bustling metropolis garden city and capital of Sarawak.It is a testament to the foresight of visionary leaders of the state that has led Kuching and Sarawak to the economic and social success of today.
