Mukah Must be Ready to Embrace Change

The “new” Mukah is part of a master plan to make it progressive and beautiful with excellent recreational,
educational and business facilities

MUKAH -Proper public housing and good living environment are important if Mukah is to project an image of progress and rapid development that will spur further economic growth.

This was what Chief Minister Pehin Sri Dr Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud explained to the people of Mukah at the launch of RPR Mukah – a 200 unit low cost housing project recently.

“Infrastructure development programs by the government would be more meaningful if the people are willing to work with the government in implementing them,” he added.

The Chief Minister explained that designing its infrastructure development is part of the master plan to transform Mukah into a beautiful and progressive town with excellent recreational, educational and business facilities.

He further noted that the need for more and better public housing facilities in Mukah will increase in the coming years in view of its rapid physical and economic development. The RPR Mukah project will meet the increasing demand for low cost houses in Mukah especially since it has to be ready to accommodate people from outside the division to facilitate its development and progress.

He advised the residents of Mukah to be ready for change and adjust their mindset not to merely expect the government to provide for their needs. Instead, he urged them to think of themselves as active partners of government in developing their division.

The RPR Mukah project is sited on an 18-acre land at Jalan Petanak and will feature a new design of “single-storey cluster housing” based on a the concept of modern living in a country-like setting. It will focus on four main factors of taste and preferences, affordability, cost effectiveness and durability.

The prices range from RM57,000 – RM60,000 per unit. Also present at the function were Housing Minister Datuk Micheal Manyin and Deputy Foreign Minister and MP for Mukah, Datuk Dr Leo Micheal Toyad. Other guests include heads of government departments and officers, community leaders and the people of Mukah.
