by Jilis Ismail Long ago, there was a large house at Pogun Tinondok. The owner was called Gubau, who one day called together his friends and neighbours to his house for a big feast. When the people had come they drank tapai and dance to the beat of the gongs. As they were getting drunk, some of them noticed a monkey and a cat in the house and though that they could have some fun with the animals. They dressed them up with shirt and trousers. Now all the people except Gubau's daughter were drunk. This woman came out to watch the feast, but at the sight of the animals being dressed she grew frightened and entered her bedroom and stayed quietly there. Moreover, she was about to have a baby.
In their excitement the people did not notice that the wind began to blow fiercely and that it was raining hard. Then the whole house, except the bedroom of Gubau's daughter, began to sink slowly into the earth, but the people still did not notice it and so they continued the feast merrily. Gubau's daughter gave birth, and when she was going to take water to bathe the child, she saw only the roof of the drowned house. At the same time the people in the house noticed what was happening and shouted for help. Some people tried to help them. They sent down a large basket tied to a long rattan. When they pulled it up, they only saw part of a human body. The same happened many times. It was said that the people in the drowning house killed each other, so nobody was rescued. The house was gradually covered with water and became what is today Gubau's pond near Kampong Bunsit.
