THE SEEDS FOR YOLOMOR'S FARM
PINANUSUNU' RA UMO RI YOLOMOR

ANYONE BEING CALLED Olomor is kind hearted person and is most reliable. This Olomor had a young sister, a maiden. They had no parents, and had no one to look after them. There were always short of food.
Olomor made herself a large farm. First, he cut down the jungle undergrowth. When he had done that he cut down the big trees, and then dried them. When the drying was over burnt off his farm , and it was a good burn-off. But Olomor was worried because he did not know what seeds he was going to plant on his farm.
One night as he slept he dreamt, and in his dream, "Take your sister and stab her, and roll her body across your farm. In that way you will have seeds because from her will grow various kinds of plants for you and your descendants to come. Your sister will return to life because she will be hidden in a big white cucumber, a long one in the middle of your farm. Don't collect it, put a fence around it and look after it properly because your sister will come back to life from that cucumber."
When Olomor woke up it was daylight, but he did not do as he was told in the dream. All night long he has been upset thinking about his dream, and he was very sorry for his sister, and did not quite believe that she would come back to life as he loved her very much.
Another night came and Olomor had the    same dream again. The same old lady said similar words to him. So Olomor got up and took his sister and went to the edge of his farm and said, "Sister, examine my head for fleas." His sister did as what she was told. Olomor was crying and his sister asked, "Brother, why are you crying?" "I am not crying, my eyes feel hot," he lied. He was feeling very miserable regarding his sister's fate, and she was innocently searching for fleas in his hair.
He took his hair pin and stabbed her. Immediately, he rolled her over the farm and she went off  from his sight. He got up and went home crying.
As he slept the old lady who had told him to kill his sister came and said, "Look out for the cucumber in the middle of your farm that I told you about."
Not long after, things began to grow - rice, corn, ubi, keladi, beans, gourds - all things that grow on our farm nowadays. Olomor also noticed the cucumber mentioned by the old lady, lying in the middle of his farm. He took extra care of it and fenced it, and collecting some cucumber, he went home.
Then one day, Apaling came to visit Olomor. Now, a person by the name of Apaling was disobedient and always upset people who wanted to do good.
Apaling said to Olomor. "Friend, where did you get there cucumber?"
"I gathered them from my farm in Antukir," answered Olomor.
"Can I go and get some tomorrow?" asked Apaling.
"As you pleased. But remember this, if you go do not pick the one that I have fenced up. I want that one for myself," answered Olomor
"All right," said Apaling, and off  he went.
When he got to Olomor's farm he purposely went to look for the one Olomor have fenced up. When he saw it he said to himself, "I'll take this one first, the one that he wants, and later I will collect some others."
He took his knife and sliced the cucumber. The blood spurted out and covered is shirt and face. He sad very still and said, "That's why he wanted it for himself. now he will be mad with me. I think I'll kill him." He got some bamboo and stuck these in the earth. He was setting a trap for Olomor. He collected only two of the cucumber as he went along on his way home.
Olomor was sitting at home and the old lady came to his thoughts and told him to go to his farm and to collect the cucumber in which his sister was. She said, "Cut is round with the hair pin that you stabbed her with."
So Olomor got up and went to his farm, but where was the cucumber? Only the skin was left and it was split. He cried and cried and searched for Apaling, but what was the use? Apaling had run away. Olomor ran into the trap Apaling had made and said, "My sister has become rice and plants on the farm, and I will become coconut and sago palms and all things that fruit. It'll be a means of giving life to men who go into the jungle and that's enough."

This is why we are experiencing hunger and death now, because the maiden was cut by Apaling. Apaling was  very bad indeed. His other name is Maluluha'.
